The Naukluft mountains are rarely visited but include some excellent serious hiking options. There are good numbers of wildlife here, including the rare Hartmanns mountain zebra, although the game isn’t easy to spot.
Sesriem Canyon, at certain times, offers visitors the chance to descend in to the narrow canyon for a swim in the cool water.
And of course, you have the infamous Dead Vlei with its 500 year old tree fossils and Sossusvlei, both of which are usually dry, creating a surreal landscape of cracked ground surrounded by soaring sand dunes.
