Swakopmund & Walvis Bay

Swakopmund is a beautiful beachside holiday resort full of charming buildings advertising the city’s colourful history.

Despite its quaint exterior with its art galleries, museum, aquarium and cafes suited to those who just want to soak up the unique atmosphere of this destination, Swakop hides an adventurous side with activities for the adrenaline junkies; sandboarding, skydiving, quadbiking and shark fishing to name a few.

Walvis Bay, situated 30km south of Swakop has a much more relaxed feel to it. Unlike the inspiring German architecture of Swakop, Walvis’ charm lies in is water based activities and excellent restaurants. Head out on the water from the refurbished lagoon for dolphin cruises, fishing expeditions and kayaking or even take the challenge and climb Dune 7 for some spectacular views. Walvis Bay is an excellent birding destination with large colonies of flamingos.
